Breaking the chain: unveiling trends and possible solutions in battle against counterfeits

The conference wants to bring together experts, industry leaders, policymakers, and technology innovators to share knowledge, discuss challenges posed by counterfeiting, explore strategies to combat it effectively, and propose actionable solutions that can collectively contribute to breaking the chain of counterfeiting.
The conference will look into in the following 3 key focus areas:
Trends in Counterfeiting: current and emerging trends and evolutions in counterfeiting, the global landscape of counterfeit goods, the industries most affected, new tactics, and channels (e.g. panda buy, drop shipping, Temu) used by counterfeiters.
Speakers: Yousaf Jahouar (Customs), Joppe Nuyts (investigative journalist), Juliana Fuchs (Puma), Tom Peperstraete (FPS Economy), Peter Meersschaut (EU-DG TAXUD)
Technology in Anti-Counterfeiting: newest cutting-edge technologies to detect and prevent counterfeiting, o.a. authentication, tracking, and traceability technologies, as well as innovations in data analytics and artificial intelligence for identifying counterfeit products.
Speakers: Oldknow (Amazon), Erwin Van Uffel (Cybersquad), Pietro Gagliano (Countercheck), Claudia Martinez Felix (EU-DG GROW), Guillaume Vanhalst (Effixis)
Consumer Education: different strategies to educate consumers about the risks of counterfeit products and empowering them to make informed purchasing decisions through campaigns, educational programs and the use of technology.
Speakers: Karen Ghysels (ECC), Alastair Gray (INTA), Eric Lequenne (Kezzler), FPS Economy, Jorij Abraham (Global Anti-Scam Alliance &Scam advisor), Lien Meurisse (FPS Economy)
Alexia Bertrand, Belgian State Secretary for Budget and Consumer Protection, will conclude the event with a keynote speech on the Conscious Consumer.
