SUMMARY:Mastering Incoterms® 2020: Risk\, Cost & Control in Global Trade
DESCRIPTION:ABOUTPROGRAMMEPRACTICAL INFOREGISTER HEREABOUT\nThe Incoterms® rules were created and are published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)\, the business organization behind the world’s most widely used trade standards. Since their first introduction in 1936\, Incoterms have become the universal language of international trade\, defining the responsibilities of buyers and sellers across borders. If there is one training that truly helps you understand and apply these essential rules with confidence — while also exploring what may evolve in the next revision — this is the one! \nIncoterms clarify who arranges transport\, who bears risks\, and who pays which costs at every stage of the shipment. Because they are used worldwide in contracts\, purchase orders\, and trade documentation\, a correct understanding of Incoterms is essential to avoid disputes\, unexpected costs\, and legal uncertainty in international trade. \nThis is an in-depth\, practical and comprehensive training on how to apply Incoterms® 2020 in international contracts and manage their consequences for transport\, risk\, costs\, and documentation — including discussion of current challenges and areas that may be reconsidered in a future 2030 revision. \nTrainer: Johan Proost – Chair\, ICC Belgium Commercial Law & Practices Committee \nPROGRAMME\n1:30 pm – 2:00 pm | The Global Trade Context & Role of Incoterms®\nUnderstanding why Incoterms are essential in modern international trade. \n2:00 pm – 2:45 pm | Incoterms® 2020 – Structure\, Logic & Strategic Use\n2:45 pm – 3:45 pm | Core Mechanics: Delivery\, Risk Transfer & Cost Allocation\nThe heart of Incoterms : where responsibility /risk shifts \n3:45 pm – 4:15 pm | Coffee Break & networking\n4:15 pm – 5:15 pm | Legal\, Contractual & Documentary Implications\nHow Incoterms interact with contracts and trade documents. \n5:15 pm – 6:30 pm |Advanced Scenarios & International Case Studies\nInteractive session applying Incoterms to complex trade flows. \nParticipants will work in small groups to tackle case examples and exchange practical solutions based on real trade situations. \nPRACTICAL INFO\nWhen?\nTuesday 17 March 2026 from 1:30 pm until 6:30 pm \nWhere? \nICC Belgium c/o VBO-FEB\nRavensteinstraat 4\n1000 Brussels \nLanguage?\nEnglish \nFee?\nMembers € 195\,- excl. SUMMARY:The future of EU Customs | What's in it for business and customs?
DESCRIPTION:ABOUTPROGRAMMEPRACTICAL INFOREGISTRATIONABOUT\nThe reform of the Union Customs Code (UCC) represents the most significant transformation of the EU customs framework in decades. Moving from a declaration-based system to a fully data-driven model\, the reform will fundamentally change how customs authorities and businesses interact across the European Union. \nThis high-level conference brings together EU policymakers\, customs authorities and business leaders to examine what the reform means in practice\, both for economic operators and for customs administrations. \nAt a time when key implementation details are still being defined through implementing and delegated acts\, it is crucial for stakeholders to gain clarity on the direction of travel. Businesses\, as the backbone of European industry and trade\, require predictability\, proportionality and legal certainty. Customs authorities\, in turn\, need effective tools to ensure enforcement\, risk management and fair competition. \nThis is precisely why ICC\, as the voice of business\, is taking the initiative to organise this event — to create a platform for open dialogue and practical clarification for companies. The conference is organised in close cooperation with FEB\, BusinessEurope\, Agoria\, Essenscia and Fedustria\, ensuring strong representation from across European industry. \nThe event will focus in particular on: \n\nThe EU Customs Data Hub and the shift towards a data-driven supervision model\nThe balance between facilitation and enforcement\nThe evolving role of AEO and trust-based supervision\nLiability\, sanctions and governance implications\nE-commerce\n\nStructured around interactive panel discussions — “What’s in it for Business?” and “What’s in it for Customs?” — the conference aims to foster an open and constructive exchange between public and private stakeholders. \nPROGRAMME\n10:30 am – 10:45 am | Welcome & Setting the Scene \nJan Delen\, Chair BE committee on Customs & Trade Facilitation\nJohn Bescec\,  Chair global commisison on Customs & Trade Facilitation \n\nObjectives of the event\nState of play of the EU Customs Reform\nNext steps: Implementing & Delegated Acts (IA/DA)\n\n10:45 am – 11:40 am | Keynote – EU Policy Perspective \nLuisa Santos\, Deputy Director General at BusinessEurope\nVanessa Hernandez-Guerrero\,  Head of unit A2 – customs legislation (DG TAXUD) at the European Commission  \n11:40 am – 1:10 pm | Panel Discussion I : what’s in it for business?\nFocus on facilitation\, trust&check\, AEO\, liability and governance implications of the reform \nModerated by Pieter Haesaert\, chairman CRSNP\, director Portorium & Tom De Ridder\, Senior Manager Customs at KPMG \n\nJimmy Geninazzi Customs & Trade Compliance manager Belgium bij Dow Sillicones Belgium\nAnna Kantrup – BDI\nPinar Oezdemir – VW Group\nWerner Rens\, Advisor-General and Head of Department at the Marketing & Facilitation Department of the General Administration of Customs and Excise\, FPS Finance\n\n1:10 pm – 2:10 pm | Networking Lunch \n2:10 pm – 3:20 pm |  Panel Discussion – The EU Data Hub\nFrom Customs Declarations to a Data-Driven System: How Will It Work? \nOpening intervention by Kanto Petri\, head of unit Architecture & Digital operations (DG TAXUD)\, European Commission \nFollowed by a panel discussion \n\nHow will the EU Data Hub function in practice?\nWhat are the policy intentions behind it?\nWhat does it mean concretely for businesses?\n\nModerated by Pieter Haesaert\, chairman CRSNP\, director Portorium \n\nVidar Gunderson\, Customs advisor and Venture investor – Adiuvero\nBjörn Bolling\, vice chair CRSNP and CEO Xcomm\nWalter Vandermeiren\, Customs Brokerage Director AT UPS | Customs Regulations\nRidvan Taci\, Chairman – Customs Software Alliance\n\n3:20 pm – 3:50 pm | Coffee Break \n3:50 pm – 5:00 pm | Panel Discussion II: What’s in it for customs?\nThe evolving role of customs authorities \nEnforcement may be strengthened but is facilitation for industry sufficiently enhanced?\nCan enforcement be strengthened while simultaneously reducing red tape for compliant industry operators? \nTopics: E-Commerce & Data Responsibility removal de minimis rule\, data reporting\, tempory storage\, etc \nModerated by Anna Jerzewska \n\nLuis Fernandez\, Customs Affairs Advisor at the Permanent Representation of France to the EU\nMałgorzata Krok\, The Minister’s Envoy for Warsaw’s EUCA bid\nBrigitte Vandenbussche\, Customs and Excise Advisor\, Cabinet of Finance\nRoel Van ‘t Veld  – Head of European Affairs at DG Customs – Ministry of Finance of The Netherlands\n\n5:00 pm – 5:20 pm | Closing Session – Key Takeaways & Next Steps\nBy Valerérie Picard\, Head of Trade – International Chamber of Commerce\nPaula Baene\, ICC Global Policy for Trade and Customs \nPRACTICAL INFO\nWhen?Tuesday\, 14 April 202610:30 am  – 5:20 pm CET \nWhere?ICC Belgium c/o VBO-FEBRue Ravenstein 41000 Brussels \nParticipation Fee\n \n\nMembers ICC/ VBO-FEB/ AGORIA/ ESSENSCIA/FEDUSTRIA/ BUSINESS EUROPE: €175 excl. SUMMARY:11th Brussels Seminar on Export Controls & Economic Sanctions
DESCRIPTION:ABOUTPROGRAMMEPRACTICALITIESREGISTRATIONABOUT\nICC Belgium and the FEB are proud to present the 11th edition of the Brussels Seminar on Export Controls & Economic Sanctions. \nFor more than a decade\, this seminar has been the meeting point for Belgium’s export control and sanctions community. \nWhat was once a niche compliance concern has become one of the defining challenges of doing business internationally. Across eleven editions we have followed the field through the annexation of Crimea\, the full-scale invasion of Ukraine\, an unprecedented expansion of restrictive measures\, and the steady rise of economic statecraft as an instrument of geopolitical competition. \nThe pressure points\, however\, keep shifting. While measures against Russia remain a constant backdrop\, attention is turning to new fronts from Iran\, where EU and US measures increasingly diverge and where the indirect impact on Russia is coming into focus\, to the fast-moving world of export controls on AI\, semiconductors and advanced computing\, much of it US-driven and reaching deep into European operations. For companies caught in the middle\, the compliance burden has never been heavier  and the financial\, criminal and reputational cost of getting it wrong has never been higher. \nThe programme opens with a keynote by David O’Sullivan on circumvention and what a credible compliance programme really needs to look like — the question at the heart of enforcement today. And\, as always\, the seminar keeps its transatlantic perspective: with speakers from both the EU and the US\, it offers a rare opportunity to see how Brussels and Washington each approach these measures where they converge\, and where they pull apart. \nBringing together leading experts from EU and US authorities\, industry and the legal profession\, this year’s edition will explore: \n\nCircumvention and compliance:  David O’Sullivan on what a credible compliance programme really needs to look like today;\nIran in focus: diverging EU and US measures\, and the indirect impact on Russia;\nEnforcement and dispute resolution:  penalties\, criminal liability\, and how sanctions play out in arbitration and litigation;\nThe new technology frontier : due diligence on AI\, semiconductors and advanced computing controls\, and the practical challenge of navigating US rules\n\nJoin leading practitioners and policymakers on 10 November 2026 in Brussels to gain practical insight into a fast-moving regulatory landscape\, exchange experiences with peers\, and prepare your organisation for what comes next. \nWe look forward to welcoming you to the 11th edition! \nPROGRAMME\nDRAFT PROGRAMME\nModerated by: Julie Deré\, Secretary General\, ICC Belgium \n\n10:00 am – 10:10 am | Welcome & Opening\nIntroduction and scene-setting for the day\nOlivier Joris\,  Executive Manager – EU & International Department \, VBO-FEB \n10:10 am – 10:25 am | The Year in Review: Headlines That Shaped the Landscape\nA fast-paced run through the past twelve months\nThe key developments that set the scene\, from both an EU and US perspective.\nBert Gevers\, Loyens & Loeff  (EU) &  Susan Kovarovics\, Akin (US) \n10:25 am – 10:55 am | Opening Keynote\nDavid O’Sullivan\, EU Sanctions Envoy\, EU Commission \n10:55 am – 11:50 pm | Beyond the FAQs: The Questions That Really Matter\nMoving past the standard guidance to the hard\, practical questions companies are actually grappling with.\nAlasdair Kan\, Counsel at Akin (UK)  & Bernard Claessens\, Attorney at law\, Loyens & Loeff (EU) \n11:50 pm – 12:30 pm | Iran in Focus: Diverging EU and US Measures\nWhy the two regimes are pulling apart\, with the EU expanding measures while the most recent changes are US-driven and what it means for banks and business.\nSusan Kovarovics (US perspective) & Marta González\, Head of Sanctions & AML Regulatory Advisory – Compliance & Ethics at Euroclear \n12:30 pm – 2:00 pm | Lunch \n2:00 pm – 2:35 pm | When Sanctions Reach the Tribunal: Arbitration & Litigation\nHow sanctions play out in dispute resolution\, built around a real-life case (EuroChem v. SUMMARY:The Cost of The Conflict: strategies to prevent disputes and reduce costs
DESCRIPTION:ABOUTPROGRAMMEPRACTICALITIESREGISTRATIONABOUT\nA lawyer’s invoice tells you the legal cost but It doesn’t tell you the cost of the conflict. What about the weeks your management team spent dealing with the dispute? The project that was put on hold? The client who never came back? Or the two employees who left in the meantime? \nThose costs never appear in a single report. They are scattered across HR budgets\, operational delays\, lost business opportunities and financial results that fall just short of expectations. \nOn 23 November\, we bring those hidden costs together. \nBusiness leaders\, judges and legal experts will explore what a conflict really costs an organisation\, which dispute resolution approach works best for different types of conflict\, and—most importantly—how businesses can prevent these costs in the first place. \nBecause the real cost of conflict goes far beyond legal fees. \nPROGRAMME\nDRAFT PROGRAMME \n1:15 pm – 1:50 pm | Registration \n1:50 pm – 2:00 pm | Welcome and introduction by Julie Deré\, Secretary General of ICC Belgium \n2:00 pm – 2:15 pm | Minister of Justice and North Sea\, Annelies Verlinden \n2:15 pm – 2:35 pm | The real bill \nDominique Valcke\, CEO Stadsbader & Chair ADEB-VBA \n2:35 pm – 3:15 pm | The overall cost of The Conflict (HR\, Commercial\, Operational) \n\n2:35 pm – 2:45 pm: Cyril Dumoulin (Senior Legal Counsel Upstream\, Conventional Oil and Gas Shell)\n2:45 pm – 2:55 pm : dr. ir. SUMMARY:Joint Arbitration Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:ABOUTPROGRAMMEPRACTICALITIESREGISTRATIONABOUT\nJoint Arbitration Day – Second Edition\n \nICC Belgium\, together with ICC Netherlands\, ICC France and ICC Germany\, is pleased to host the second edition of the Joint Arbitration Day. \nA full afternoon of practical\, cross-border discussion on the issues actually shaping international commercial arbitration in Europe right now: from the European Union’s evolving relationship with arbitration\, to the new 2026 ICC Rules\, to the disclosure questions raised by the use of AI. The day brings together arbitrators\, in-house counsel\, external counsel and the bench from different jurisdictions\, with the user voice deliberately built into every session. \n\nPROGRAMME\nProgramme\n12:00 – Networking lunch \n13:00 – Welcome \n13:15 – Keynote: Geopolitics – Europe’s uncomfortable position \n14:00 –Panel 1: How is EU law shaping commercial arbitration? \n14:45 – Coffee break \n15:15 – Parallel break-out sessions \n16:30 – Panel 2: View from the bench \n17:00 – Networking drinks \n19:00 – Dinner (central Amsterdam) \n \nSessions \nKeynote: Geopolitics – Europe’s uncomfortable position\nA non-legal opening on the geopolitical reshaping that is squeezing European business between US technological leverage\, Chinese economic dominance and Russian military pressure. Paul Verhagen\, Senior Fellow at The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies\, Strategic Liaison at the UvA Civic AI Lab and lecturer at the University of Amsterdam  examines how the global technology landscape is fracturing into competing US\, Chinese and European blocs\, and what this strategic shift means for European business across AI\, critical infrastructure and trade. Drawing on the thesis of his forthcoming book\, The Techtonic Shift: Power\, Tech and the End of Nations. \nPanel 1: How is EU law shaping commercial arbitration? \nEU law has moved from the background to the foreground of commercial arbitration. Following the CJEU’s Achmea and Komstroy line of case law\, alongside state aid issues and the responses of national courts across jurisdictions\, tribunals\, users and counsel are increasingly required to grapple with questions that would have seemed remote only a few years ago. \nParallel break-out sessions\nSmall-format sessions running in parallel\, designed for substantive engagement rather than passive listening. \n1. AI in Arbitration: Disclosure\, the ICC Task Force and the EU AI Act\nArtificial intelligence is reshaping how arbitrators work – but the rules governing its use are still being written. This session focuses on two concrete pressure points: the disclosure obligations arbitrators face when using AI tools\, including the ongoing work of the ICC AI Task Force; and the implications of the EU AI Act for arbitrators seated in EU jurisdictions. Both issues are live now and affect practitioners across Belgium\, France\, Germany and the Netherlands. Less a survey of AI in arbitration\, more a practical reckoning with obligations that already apply. \n2. Drafting Arbitration Clauses for 2026: EPP and Highly Expedited Arbitration\nThe 2026 ICC Rules introduce the Highly Expedited Arbitration procedure – but opting in (or out) requires deliberate drafting choices that many standard clauses do not yet reflect. This session is designed for in-house counsel: what does the new procedure actually offer\, where does it create risk\, and how should arbitration clauses be drafted or revised to reflect it? Workshop format\, with clause language under the microscope. \n3. The 2026 ICC Rules: New Disclosure Obligations and What They Mean in Practice\nThe 2026 ICC Rules impose a new obligation on parties to identify and explain relevant entities – a change with real consequences for group structures\, joint ventures and supply chains common in industrial and infrastructure projects. This session unpacks what the new obligation requires\, how the updated Note to Parties interacts with it\, and what in-house and external counsel should be doing now to prepare. \n4. Preventing Disputes: Is the Mediation Window Friend or Foe?\nMulti-tiered dispute resolution clauses are standard in complex projects – but does the mediation window actually prevent disputes\, or does it merely delay and complicate them? This session examines the question from the perspective of industrial and infrastructure projects\, where the stakes are high and relationships long. We will look at what works\, what does not\, and how the clause is drafted in practice across our partnering jurisdictions. \n\nPanel 2: View from the bench\nA panel of senior judges from different jurisdictions on enforcement\, set-aside and the EU-law interface. A genuinely “joint” closing that ties back to Panel 1 and brings the day full circle. \nPRACTICALITIES\nWhen? \nThursday\, 3 December 2026. \nWhere? \n\nDay venue & Networking drinks: De Brauw\, Amsterdam Zuid.\nDinner: central Amsterdam – exact venue to be confirmed.\nAccommodation: as the evening programme takes place in the city centre\, we suggest booking accommodation there.\n\nFee? \n\nEUR 125\,00 excl.
